Chiropractic care in pregnancy can provide benefits for women who are pregnant. It helps the patients in having healthier and safer pregnancy; it helps control symptoms of nausea, reduces the time of labor and delivery and avoids a possible cesarean delivery. During pregnancy, patient’s body produces hormones to relax ligaments. Without these hormones, baby’s head would never be able to fit through the pelvis.

But these hormones, combined with the inflated belly, can leave patient loose-limbed, swaybacked, and unusually clumsy, due to a rapidly lowering center of gravity. All of this can do quite a number on patient’s spine.Chiropractic care will undo much of this damage and keeps the lower body in proper alignment for an easier and safer birth. Some researchers have even stated that, proper chiropractic adjustments lessen the chances of miscarriage, control morning sickness, and lowers the risk of pre-term delivery. The role of a chiropractor in prenatal care is to establish pelvic balance and alignment, not only to reduce the mother/baby discomfort, but also to allow the baby to be in the best position for delivery. When the pelvis is misaligned it may reduce the amount of room for the developing baby to be comfortable and they may seek out a less than optimal position for birth. Optimal baby positioning at the time of birth also removes the likelihood for dystocia (difficult labor) and therefore results in easier and safer deliveries for both the mother and baby.
